Editorial policy
Modern Spotlight aims to make interior design easier to understand through careful, specific writing. We distinguish explanation from opinion, check factual claims before publication and update articles when a meaningful error is found.
Accuracy and clarity
Writers should use precise terms, explain specialist language and keep claims proportionate to the information available. We review copy for accuracy and clarity before publication. When an article depends on information that may change, it should say so plainly rather than present a temporary detail as permanent.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for reader relevance, not to secure a commercial mention. A brand, product or partner does not receive favourable coverage as a condition of collaboration. Where a commercial relationship affects material on the site, that relationship is disclosed near the relevant content.
Corrections
Readers can report an error through the Contact page. We assess the report, correct confirmed factual mistakes and clarify an article where its wording could mislead. Substantive corrections are identified in the article; minor changes to spelling or presentation may not need a separate notice.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid features, partner content and commercial placements are clearly identified so readers can distinguish them from independent editorial work. Some illustrations may be generated with AI. Illustrations are not evidence of a real room, product test or reported event, and they should not be presented as photographs.
Rooms reward a closer look
A chair, a window and a clear route through a room all contribute to how it feels. We examine those choices without prescribing one style of home.
